This is a change from our usual free lectures at the Quaker Meeting House, and admission will be £3 at the door, and there is no need to book in advance. Wine and soft drinks will be available after the lecture.
We're looking forward to an inspiring evening learning about conifer conservation with the RBGE's Dr. Martin Gardner.
Dr. Gardner says of his talk:
"As a result of recent global conservation assessments of the conifers we now know that 34% of all known conifer species are threatened with extinction. Over a period of 20 years the International Conifer Conservation Programme (ICCP), based at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, has developed a range of initiatives to help conserve some of the world’s most threatened conifer species. The talk will discuss some of the major threats to conifers and highlight some of the initiatives in place to help safe guard conifers for the long term future and the role that Scotland is playing in this."
